Following the loss of a planning appeal by previous consultants on this sensitive conservation area site we were instructed to re-evaluate the development opportunity.
Having set to work on exploring the constraints of the challenging topography we turned these into a positive design response by addressing previous scale & massing problems by utilising the slope to hunker the building down.
Initial sketch concepts informed 3D modelling tools in order to explore various ideas on built form and primarily how to sit the built form into the site, we worked closely with the planning & conservation officers to initially gain consent for one contemporary family dwelling.
The valley was considered large enough and capable of siting two dwellings and we again worked with the local authority to create another bespoke dwelling that fits within the difficult constraints of the site.
“Stunning innovative design solution to a difficult site”
