Private Client - Henley on Thames

This plot is located in a leafy suburb close to Henley on Thames and was once the home of a 1950's bungalow which had become dilapidated over time.

The brief was to design a 2  storey replacement dwelling that was traditional in style yet provided modern family living accommodation. Given that there were existing 2 storey housing stock either side of the site it was considered that this approach would be considered acceptable. We carried out the subsequent pre-application submission and  following further discussions with the planners the scheme gained their support.

We produced bespoke house type floor plans initially for discussion on how their family wanted to live and use the house, once the floor plans were conceived the elevations then took shape and working closely with the client on preferred styles and advice on external materials we arrived at the final scheme for planning submission. The main roof height was minimised by creating a secret flat roof hidden behind the gable and the hipped end. This also provided an element of future proofing as the roof space could be used for additional accommodation if needed.

Following an efficient and uneventful planning process approval was granted and a complete pack of construction drawings & details were prepared for the main contractor.

“It is a lovely looking, good sized family home which has been very well designed!”
