Branston Locks forms a large development site for in excess of 1500 dwellings. This Phase , Phase IV comprises of 244 units and takes the form of a lower density development parcel due to its close proximity to the green hillside of Millenium Wood to the north.
The vision for this area of the site was for an informal area of residential development with significant areas of landscaping. It was important to create a high quality landscaped environment with larger plots in what is the quietest part of the entire development site.
The dwellings took on two elevation styles which were created with subtle variation to reflect this more rural part of the site. Both styles utilised simple, traditional architectural detailing utilising a cohesive blend of high quality external materials.
“The 'Village Green' sits within the heart of the development and is framed by three storey dwellings to its perimeter. The three storey dwellings sit beyond the far side of the street which creates an acceptable street scale; dwellings have been designed with habitable rooms located at higher level facing the green space which adds safety and security to the public realm.”
